Ah, ok. @hi4250five you are shading without a light source. Take into consideration that this
would cast a shadow onto this
. Try using a light source; draw a temporary sun. It helps with shading, at least it helped me. If you don’t understand, let’s try this; you draw a normal rifle using the shading that you’re used to, and I’ll draw one with a light source, which can be easily erased for the finished drawing.

That only applies if the light source is directly above the rifle.

If it was in front, there would still be shading int he inner covered handle.

Yeah, but not all. Taht’s what I’m trying to say. No matter where the light source is, as long as it’s not in front of or behind the object, there will be inner shading, if it is shaped like this
