I’m pretty sure it’s promoting but I believe it’s just out of date.
you should absolutely be able to upload your own sprite packs to the shop. I think it’d be a fun way for users to create sprites for others to use/purchase, and also a great source for those who aren’t very good at pixel art.
To request you own packs to be added the store, you need to email grazer.
Preferred packs are higher quality that works well with the sprite editor in flowlab that you want to sell for a low cost. The packs are from previous Flowjam winners, but I don’t believe it has anything related to that.
I agree that it should be promoted more, but I think Grazer is wanting to add more features to the store overall. But he mostly focuses on new features for the engine, he’s a one man band.
I didn’t even realize anyone could submit their own sprite packs. I’ll be honest, I thought it was more of an inner group that was allowed to.
Well Flowlab is a business, and its up to grazer what gets added.
It doesn’t hurt to email him, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up about it.
I’m personally not the best at art, but my brother at one time was making some pretty cool sprite packs for various games that he might be interested in continuing.
