-added a snazzy new leaderboard backdrop that cycles colors. My hope is people will compete a little more to get on the board.

Thatâs all for this weekâs log. Both me and logan are gone on trips, so progress has slowed. My internet is so bad out here that I actually had to write this in the notes app and wait to reach civilization to send this message. We both get home soonish though, so expect next log to be much longer! Thank you.
So⊠we just got word that the faction mothership just blew up. No clue how, messengers didnât want to tell us why for some reason.
Honestly, I believe itâs all a hoax or some social experiment test. Nobody could just⊠blow the mothership up. That ship has⊠or, er, had shields unlike anything in the galaxy. No laser, no bomb, no nothing could pierce it. I have my doubts.
Regardless, theyâve placed a search warrant on a V-GonnK2 #32A starfighter. I guess I should just follow my orders and blow it up. This 3 crew starship has been floating through space long enough. Time to get some action, and pass this social experiment test.
the fix is actually a feature thats yet to be developed that insta kills you after a set amount of time if you dont kill a boss fast enough. Iâll reset the leaderboard, donât worry about it. thanks for finding this issue
Since last week:
-BIG change: gameâs physics were upgraded from 30 to 60fps. This means much smoother gameplay on the finished product. Basically everything that moves had to get itâs numbers changed for this physics change.
-Experimented with framerates and found that the game runs different depending on platform. Only developing in 60FPS to avoid mistakes going forward.
-fixed up the layering for bosses, trails, projectiles and other things I added over the vacation.
-added a self destruct feature; a core gameplay mechanic is you will only have 32 seconds to kill each boss. Now that the self destruct warning has been added, the xenith boss is completely done, and bosses can be printed more easily going forward.
-fixed up lots of animation issues involving the buttons
NOTE: I have entered the 2022 summer flowjam, which is a 2 week long game jam. Due to this I will not be working on galacdrive until the jam ends. see you then!

Since last week:
With universal crumbleâs last update, galacdrive progress has resumed! My workflow really âhit the galacdrive(i am terribly sorry)â, because I got two weeks worth of work done in one!
-replaced the old âstarting screenâ with a proper main menu. This menu is outfitted with several buttons, and a few slots are yet to be filled by other features. Thereâs even a button that links to the discord server!
-added a skippable splash screen when the game starts up, using animations from crumble.
-added a short start cutscene for when you start the game from the homescreen.
-removed epilepsy warning (for now.)
-used an online generator and made my own tweaks to make a gorgeous space background for use in the homescreen and very, very far into the main game.
-logan has finished a massive chunk of the soundtrack and it now plays ingame. The full main theme will be uploaded to youtube when the main track is finalized.
-changed the files for the music from m4a to mp4, which should allow the music to play on more devices.
-a third member has joined the team: audio designer Yatas! Yatas is a sound designer and enjoyed the game enough that he offered to handcraft SFX for the game. Because of life stuff, heâll start in approx. 3 weeks.
-made a proper logo for the game that sits on the homescreen and when the game is linked.
-the âvorgonâ ingame have been renamed to âvorgarâ so the game doesnât tie to star trek.
-introducing the second boss: destroyer! destroyer is the second vorgar ship and fires volleys in straight lines at the player. It features rotating turrets using a heavily modified version of JR 01âs public homing missile bundle. Thanks JR for the wonderful bundle!
-recolored a few buttons so the button coloring convention makes more sense.
-slight adjustments to the playerâs HP bar visuals.
-fixed: shield bar having a stroke if the player shields up at the same time as hitting an asteroid.
-fixed: the devastating âdrift wobbleâ thatâs plagued the game for a while, especially on slower computers. This was a tricky one.
-fixed: the red background having some falsely colored areas (how did i miss that??)
-fixed: âdetonation inâ warning sign not flashing properly. This includes a stability change that will allow the game to run smoother and more bug-free.

Since last week:
-trello board! A galacdrive trello board has been made for the game and is intended to be a sort of âsticky note boardâ. Itâs not a roadmap but itâll let others get a better peek into what weâre doing. View it here: Trello
-new boss: pirate capital ship! This boss is equipped with scatter guns and a capital cannon that can instakill the player. Watch out!
-pirate capital ship took a while to make and actually isnât fully in the game yet, but will be by end of today. Now that the first t1, 2 and 3 bosses are done, I can begin work on the looping mechanic.
-slight modifications to the ingame UI
-BIG optimization improvements! Thrust trails have been optimized, allowing the game to run better on weaker devices. These optimizations cut the amount of objects eating up resources in the game from 1/5th to a half! The game can now run far better on mobile devices.
-changes and simplifications to some boss code
-powerups can now be grabbed the instant another one expires, clearing up confusion.
-fixed: playerâs HP bars in incorrect position
expect pirate capital ship to be available in under 24hrs, and for some big changes to how the game runs soon! Thereâs a chance the game will be temporarily set to private to prevent people cheating the leaderboard, but Iâm not entirely sure yet. Thanks for following!
