How do I make good art for my game?

I’m trying to make art for a new game that I’m making. Can I have some tips for how to make better art? The game is a platformer, similar to Mario. Any ideas?

A super quick tip is to use a color palette! Any of the premade ones will automatically make art look much better than handpicked if you’re starting out :).
