Open World game design

Open World game desing is something that I use in Survive the Zamboodles, it’s where there is no direction given, it’s so then the player can explore. I only mention this because every time I get that game reviewed the reviewers always mention that it doesn’t direct you towards the objective, but whats the point in me adding this entire world if it’s just a linear plot line. For example the part of the city in the first area is cut off, you can’t figure that out if you don’t explore the city and only go to one specific spot for the objective.

I don’t get the same for Terraria! V3.3 because my game is a sandbox game, but that’s still frustrating! :angry:
