PLYMOUTH ENTERTAINMENT - SOL PRE-ALPHA UPDATE

Has it been a while?.. Probably.

As you saw, the announcement of A-Box ReImagined, this project, alike to the DATE-A! Remake, will not effect the progress of SOL, and will likely release after (at least) the Demo is finished. Which, I’d also like to announce the Demo for SOL will be pushed back to early 2022. Not that it’s a large undertaking, I just really want it to be fine tuned enough before it gets into your hands. Anyways, updates:

  1. Lighting update. This is due to my updated monitor, I had to readjust the contrast that will be nearly equal on different monitors. It also seems to add a lot more atmosphere and darkness to the dark scenes.
  2. Breakable walls. A simple, regular attack breakable wall has been added. A wooden blockade to, in the tutorial, teach the player their simple attack.
  3. Added a sprite for the breakable wall (simple attack): Obs_WoodBarrier
  4. Added damage effects to the wall, consisting dust and broken boards flying into the air. Along with this, screen shake is now effected by the wall destruction.
  5. Fixed some location issues with the Tunnel dripping particles where they would appear too far out of the origin point.
  6. Added new wall sprites for blackened edges. Gives the scene more of flow, and not seamline as it was before, giving a more natural look as it is everywhere else in the scene.
  7. @glowbug made a new ground object sprite - a special globe. Like the cans, they are breakable and you can toss around the remains with the custom physics. Here is the neato sprite: Globe
  8. Added a skip function to the intro section as well as a cue.
  9. Working on a new SOL animation. Doing a small study since it will be a little difficult, but in the beginning of the game, SOL has to stand up for the first time, which is more daunting than it sounds. Here is a small study animation I’ve got so far:

Just added in moving platforms! There will be a lot of updates to improve movement smoothness, but the basic functions of the object is in place, as well as being able to be crushed by it XD

If you find yourself stuck in front of a impending moving platform and a wall, sorry, you’re out of luck :open_mouth:

PLYMOUTH ENTERTAINMENT - DEMO UPDATE

Hello all! Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the development of SOL:D

I must unfortunately inform, however, the SOL Pre-Alpha Demo will be pushed into early 2022. There is a decent amount of gameplay elements that still need implementing. Even though it’s mostly on the UI side, the second half of the demo still hasn’t begun production yet. The second half will be the biggest undertaking due to it being outside of the Tunnel-Way, and hence a lot more objects will be needed as well as fog and rain FX to varying degrees, not to mention a finalized base enemy (with animations).

In estimate, along with a newly established and smaller SOL Dev Team with @glowbug and @HuckleBerry , will likely take 3 more months to finalize and test before it’s release.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but we wish to deliver the best possible debut experience of SOL as we can! Stay tuned for more news and updates on production.

EDIT: Also, a new song I forgot to mention!

While it’s disappointing to hear it’s getting delayed, I’m glad you care enough to make tough decisions like this. You really care about this project and your passion for it makes me more and more excited about it. Take all the time you need to make this game the best it can be.
