IDK if this is on the trello (it’s totally because I can’t find it and not because I am lazy) but since we can make the sprites larger, can we make them smaller in the editor? This would make 16X16 sprites possible. Although, it would also take a redesign of the grid to allow it to even happen, so I could see this being a problem.

You can technically already do this by making the squares bigger on a default block.
Also, you could just use pixilart.com and import sprites
