Lent was when Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights in the desert. I’ve heard of it before, but I didn’t know there was a holiday for it.
I know during that time, he was tempted by the devil several times, but he never gave in.

I just learned more on the Towns of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abrahams Nephew, Lot, lived in the town of Sodom which both of these cities were full of sin. God sent two angels to the cities to find any righteous people only to find Lot and his family. They wanted to sleep in the city square (where it was apparently the worst) and Lot offered them a stay in his home. When they got to his home, they were approached by several homosexuals who wanted to get ahold of the two new visitors. Lot refused and the two angels made the men blind so they couldn’t find door. He said that God plans to destroy these cities and so he told Lot and his family to leave and not look back.
When they left as God rained burning stones on the city, Lots wife turned around and upon seeing the cities, she turned into a pillar of salt.
What I find about this so fascinating is how they actually dug up remains of both cities to find everything was destroyed by a “high heat” event.
Pottery and relics were glazed with glass as sand was melted against it. And skeletons were burned up. Some hide behind walls and only their top half was missing, which explained the burning stones fell down at an angle.
Broken pots of grain never hit the ground, but was found pinned up against walls and melted. They even found melted mud bricks and various other finds.
The melted glaze on the pottery was from heat of around 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit I believe. At least it was reproduced in a laboratory to get the same affect and that was what was needed for it to happen.
Since there were no arrow heads or sign of any battle or war that happened, it had to be by the hand of God, since no natural event could have caused something like that.
I could be wrong on some of the digits and stuff, but you could look it up to find more information on it.

Yeah, I remember that part in the bible. It’s crazy when you see the remains in real life, or at least after it happened.

There’s a similar event in Hinduism about the city of Dwarka established by Krishna, an avatar of the god Vishnu, which after the tale of Mahabharata, slowly began sinking into the ocean as the creator of the city vanished.
Recently, submerged remains of pottery, foundations, carvings, etc. have been discovered in the area where Dwarka was said to have sunk, it was all over the indian news channels. It’s still up in the air whether it’s the same place or not, but I think it’s still an interesting piece of history.

Yeah, it’s stuck atop of a mountain surrounded by super dense vegetation. I don’t think anyone has been able to get to it, but it’s only been detected by satellite images I believe.

Hey, you know how scientists think that desserts used to be oceans? Well i have a theory, what if desserts used to be regular feilds and ■■■■, but then a flood came along that turned said feilds into oceans, and once the water dried up… you were left with a dessert?
