You dont know how many otcs there are… do you?
There are 5, I found it because I’m curious why this topic is OTC 5.
But the think made me annoying is the max limit is 10000 posts, but there are more than 10000 posts in the pic.
Yeah, not to mention the punishing grey raven saga and the backup otc, and the otc strinkes back, and the lresident if the otc, and the otc’s medevil era
I’ve written my own alphabet to Elven for my Pathfinder campaign, the actual language being Latin (inspired from Tolkein). I wrote it by hand and made a font out of it for virtual handouts and I like how it looks. It’s so smooth because it is usually written with a wand through the Sigil spell (basically picture trying to write with a laser pointer.) I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Thoughts?
Sometimes just writing it out for the help request helps people understand the issue better, and allows them to find the solution themselves.
Yep, and if they post their solution it helps the community as a whole next time someone else has the problem.
The issue is people just saying “Nevermind, I figured it out” and then giving themselves the solution, not explaining how they figured it out, and flat out ignoring the people who tried to help before
So in summary, just think of others.
I really like it! I’m probably biased since I’ll probably be seeing some of those handouts unless it’s for a different campaign, but I do like how smooth it is but not quite like cursive. It’s also pretty unrecognizable from latin which is good for a made up language that our characters probably don’t understand.
the house always wins
Personally, I don’t mind people asking for help in general. I never had a use to get onto the forums about 4 years ago until I had a question on something, then I eventually stuck around to being one of the more active users today.
So, I can understand when people get on to ask for help, since they don’t know anyone on here, they didn’t have a reason to join beforehand. Plus, we’ve had several teachers come on to ask for help on behalf of a student. So, the forums were originally intended so people can share their games and provide/ask for help when needed so we can grow as a whole.
However, there have been some users in the past who were either way too young to be using any online website, or didn’t provide very good grammar, so it’s near impossible to understand half of what they say. As @BradenS said above, it’s also kind of annoying when you try to explain word for word to a new user and they just completely ignore you. I’ve seen this happen so many times.
I’ve also seen some new users who physically won’t make code on their own but will basically ask the community to do it for them. Art can be debatable, but I’ve seen so many people ask for art from anyone, but it can just be for a placeholder or just something quick to test some code, but when you have those type of users that won’t listen to any words you may say but beg for screenshots and examples. This may be a bit more difficult to notice, but there were a few users in the past who couldn’t actually do the code themselves or figure out the simplest of mechanics. I understand if they literally started that day of, but when it goes on for months to longer, it starts to get a bit frustrating.
Personally, I don’t mind new users joining the forums on a help request, since most of us have probably ended up here before because of one, but it can be very frustrating to have new users take advantage of the community or post whatever they want on here. I’m glad it’s been very mellow. I couldn’t imagine what the forums would be like if we had a community the size of unreal engine or unity. I’m sure it wouldn’t be terrible, since most people who have a desire to make video games, usually pursue or are serious of that desire, but there’ll always be a good handful of trolls.
that literaly used to be me in 2020
