Vehicle Battlefield! [Play it Now!]

Ok, thanks a lot.

It’s coming from the evil depths of spritestacking, lol.

Hey guys!

I made a small update, and, thanks to Braden, the boss can only spawn once and the need for a boss spawner was eliminated!

So, recently, I’ve found MULTIPLE ways to conserve objects. As a temporary free user, I need to try these. What better game than Vehicle BattleField to do just that! First things first, I’m going to use the in-game cursor choosers for the main menu. I’ll make a coordinate extractor that, if triggered, makes the objects bigger.

This is the current main menu page for the cursor settings. It’s about to become very very different. (To the editor, that is.)

Update

Things that I completed today:

  • Extreme relief
  • A new object-efficient cursor system
  • Eliminated the boss spawner
  • Saved another object
  • Coded a cursor saving system

This took all of my free time today. I feel as if I’d just won the lottery (Because I completed the cursor savings system.) Anyways, that’s all for today, bye!

I need feedback. Here’s the game: Vehicle Battlefield! What should I add?

Just finished the game, so I guess I’ll go review this now.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I won’t sugarcoat anything

  • The first 2 levels have no real way from keeping you from just charging to the end, so that was super easy
  • The game has very basic combat and apart from the tank, the art doesn’t really come together.
  • I think you like making really big levels, but thats not always the best option, because I felt as if the map was super stretched out
  • Please add repeating shooting when you hold click
  • There are no satisfying moments that really make this game unique(apart from the last level)
  • Bullets are too small
  • Doesn’t really give you the sense that you’re battling anything

Now, things I liked

  • The first 2 levels are meh, but the third one, I actually really enjoyed, it had very satisfying moments and looked pretty great as well. I approve.
  • The spritestack looks good
  • The asteroids look good

This game has potential, but really isn’t very good at its current stage, its theming isn’t great and the combat is even worse. Please do not take this as discouragement, I’m just saddened to not see much improvement in the quality of your games and want to give a reality check that there is still much to learn and that you should always do your best work.

Ok, I’ll make them harder.

Hmm… I’ll keep that in mind.

Automatic shooting would make the tank OP.

I’ve been working on that one.

Thanks!
Do you have any idea on how to improve the game? What is satisfying that I should add? What should I do to make it feel as if you are battling?
Should I make the second level a mobility-type level? It is a spacecraft, after all.

Thanks a lot though.

Done.

Fine. But not with the mouse, of course.

Delay it with the Rate Limit Example by grazer.

I am aware. I just made the cooldown 0.5 seconds… and added the auto-gun.

It only took six behaviors, all very simple. A point-at, two globals, an In View, Number, and a velocity.
