Devlog #5 :star2:

May 9th, 2025


About time I made another devlog. Many changes have been made, so much in fact that whenever I wish I could turn back time I get rid of the thought because that would mean all the hard work I’ve done would be gone. Working on level 3, the demo is nearing. I’ve decided to do something that a game dev should never do which is give myself a deadline. Release the demo by May 22nd, 2025. Why that specific date, you ask? It’s because that’s the game’s anniversary! When May 22nd arrives, this game becomes a year old.

This is HUGE for me! I have never worked on a game THAT long before! It would usually span between 2 Days → 2 months! I’m very, very, very proud of myself.

Man, I remember way back when, when this was basically going to just be one big Eldabyss rip-off trying it’s best to be seen as “unique”. I remember when the grass textures were noisy as hell and how all the art sucked too. Back then, even though I said my goal was to release this to Steam, it never seemed like a Steam game to me. More like some sort of Coolmathgames sort of game. A browser game. Something stupid and small.

Since then, I’ve matured, fixed the lore, and became a better game developer overall. I try my best to avoid the “Improve, and restart the game from scratch” thing by just slowly changing everything one by one every time I improve rather than making it all over again.

This is all MEGA corny but like I had to say something… I haven’t made a devlog in so long…


List of changes:

  • Movement is now momentum based.
  • The planned 32 guns have been changed to 10.
  • William has arms.
  • Art has improved.
  • Guns are a tad bit smaller.
  • The Walking Fungi got a redesign.
  • Lots of bad writing has been fixed.
  • Level 2 has finally been completed.
  • There are blood stains.
  • You can dive.
  • You can play one-handed, in case William… distracts you…
  • The guns are balanced? At least I think so.
  • Ramps.
  • Rockets. :boom:
  • Spacebar to jump.
  • Shotgun has knockback.
  • Parrying.
  • Main Menu (Still needs to be fixed)
  • And so much more!!

Overall,
I am VERY confident in the development of this game, in fact, I am HYPED for my own game. I’m sooo proud of it!!!
