Devlog #4

September 18th, 2024


The game has come a long way and I’m very proud of it so I’m releasing the second build,
It features;

  • 1 New Enemy
  • Punching
  • Gun Weight
  • A long hallway
  • A flat room
  • Super Jump that is done by holding SHIFT and W
  • Stamina Points similar to ULTRAKILL’s
  • Increased base stats
  • New Art Style

What it doesn’t include:

  • Level 1
  • Unfinished Level 2

What’s Planned

Instead of switching guns by finding them on the ground and using them to replace your current one, you keep found guns throughout the entire game and you can choose which 5 that you have via menu that you want to bring into the level you’re about to play

Finally finishing Level 2

Melee Weapons

Some form of parry

MORE ENEMIES

Bugs-

  • Super Jump not taking 2 stamina points sometimes

Overall, I think this is going to be the biggest project I’ve ever worked on and I hope I don’t leave it in the dust, like my other big projects.

I nerfed the Energy Projectile damage to 1 instead of 2 in both the second build and the official unreleased version of the game

Also added precise jumping to the unreleased version of the game, if you hold space bar your jump height will be lowered, this is the only stat you’ll probably ever have that isn’t effect by Mask Loss.
Precise Jumping was added to be able to dodge projectiles easier

I made a copy of ANIMOSITY to work on the new weapons system but I got carried away and there’s too much for my lazy self to copy over to the original game so this new copy is the new link to the game.


Also working on the new weapons system made me realize… I forgot to recolor the guns to PICO 32 and potentially redraw them since I haven’t really started on the new art style, I’ve just been recoloring

Oh my the game is so much more fun like this
Just being able to choose guns from clicking my number keys is so much more fun than finding another gun and having to move around to switch

It’s reminding me so much of ULTRAKILL that I’m pressing spacebar to jump lmao

Almost done-


The weapons with the purple outline mean they are optional guns which means you aren’t forced to find them but they are really useful. Some optional’s will be harder to find than others and some will have VERY, VERY specific ways to find them.

Also yellow ones mean they are unlocked after beating a very important boss.

When I release the demo I will tell you how to find it because you made it, the Knife Blaster is supposed to be semi-difficult to find

I just played Cluster Rush again and now I have this irresistable urge to add some form of climbing to ANIMOSITY.

I might take inspiration from Ultra-Demake (again) and just make it so you can hop on walls, but I’ll probably make this take up one stamina point or make it so it has it’s own stamina

Devlog #4.5

October 4th, 2024

FIVE. WHOLE. DAYS. It took me FIVE. DAYS. Five days to make something so simple. I was struggling day in and out, trying to figure out why nothing would work. And it was all because I forgot to change the target for a message for each gun in the gun menu system. For the Gun Menu when choosing a slot for a gun you can double click it to bring it back to 0 (you don’t want to bring it into the level anymore). But for SOME REASON when doing so it would always bring EVERY gun back to it’s place instead of the chosen one (When a gun is selected for a slot it gets teleported to the side to where the slot should be). I managed to fix this.

But then…
Everytime I selected a gun after bringing back another, all guns that were clicked on at least ONCE would be brought to the same slot you chose. It took me FIVE WHOLE DAYS TO FIGURE OUT WHY!

It was because of THIS behavior…

I was supposed to change the target according to the gun and didn’t notice it for FIVE WHOLE DAYS.
Anyway it’s fixed now and I am probably like 90% done with the Gun Menu.
