The last game I made is getting scores of 3. I mean, a 1 I’d enjoy because then it’s ragey. Bitwit certainly hated it lol, so I’ll take that. A four would be nice. But the other two reviewers gave it a three. That was just depressing. I guess I just gotta move on from game design.

No, don’t move on!

You’re great with sound, right? And you’re also at the time of age to start making some money, yes? Well then find someone willing to pay you to make music for their game, work on your art and game design on the side, then you can do all 3 on your own, or do it for someone else making money.

You’re not a bad developer, Serenity just wasn’t a hit because it was stereotypical, jumping with literally no hazards doesn’t appeal much to the player’s eye, but you have potential.

Of course, you don’t have a computer right now, so I guess that sucks… but you don’t need a computer to make music or art, so give it your best shot!

The choice of giving up is something you must learn when you’re young, or it’ll be too late when you’re older… so you’re at a good age, just push through it, enter competition, repeat!

Who wouldn’t?

There’s no point really, even if I made a good game they would cancel it.

They?

Also, you have yet to show them a good game… good games take patience and lots of time, I’m literally trying so hard to find the quickest possible ways to code advanced things in my game jam game (Historically Loony) and I’m still struggling.

I haven’t made a game in years, I’d be much, much better but I can’t deal with the low ratings and moments of depression every review I get.

Those are things you need to learn to embrace, take the pros, keep them, and then the cons into pros by fixing them.

Plus, don’t worry about reviews, just make sure you’re having fun in the development process!

I don’t have fun without people appreciating it.

I understand getting discouraged by bad reviews. But I also keep in mind that when I submit something here, it’s being reviewed by people who make games themselves, so they’re obviously going to be more critical than the average gamer. I share my games here, and people say “meh, your movements are broken, your artwork is amateurish, the levels were too hard,” etc. I share my games with my non-Flowlabbian friends, and they say “wow, you actually made this? That’s cool!” They don’t even complain about it being too hard, they just say “I’m having a really hard time finishing level 3, it’s tough!” (and I’m thinking, woo boy, if you think level 3 is tough, just wait for level 4 LOL)

And besides, my ultimate goal is to create games that I myself will enjoy playing. If nobody else likes them… oh well. :man_shrugging:

That’s not my goal, my entire future was dependent on people enjoying my games
