Artists say this because they want to improve I call my art trash all the time. It’s just something we do.

Also this isn’t necessarily true, as long as you keep the lines going the same way and understand the basic rules of shading it should be perfectly fine.

I say my code is bad when compared to other it might be fine. But we compare ourselves to our own standards to improve. Being able to see ones own mistakes and learn from it is the absolute best way to learn.
