Color Complex - Flowjam (CodeAlpaca)

Hello! New Thumbnail wanted

So I want to use a different thumbnail for Color Complex but I can’t think of anything that would look good, any ideas?

I already have a mockup of something that looks exactly like that

Looks awesome! Maybe simplify the background behind the bars and text, then make the text bigger. Optionally you could also add the player character facing frontwards shown from the waist up to make the main focus of the image. Additionally, you could mix in a couple of gray pipes with the coloured ones to better represent the game’s look and feel. Just a few suggestions of mine, hope I helped!

A lot of the colors used are from the in-game color palette.
This looks great rn, but when I upload it as the screenshot it displays the character being very blurry, so I’m unsure how it will look on the home page. If it displays as blurry I’ll try to fix

Any other suggestions?
(I think the character needs to be slightly bigger, but idk)

Which design do you like best?

  • I like the first thumbnail better (The Original one)
  • I like the second thumbnail better (The New one)

Ok, another thing; I added an Activity Monitor so you can see the number of plays for the day.
Currently, it has all my opening or closing of the editor recorded for the first 3 days (Every time I open or close the editor it adds one, but only for me because I own the game), then I scrapped the idea for the Flowjam so it stopped recording the number of plays. That bump today is from me testing it and making sure it works. Tomorrow it will be 100% accurate.
Also if you have any design change recommendations that would be great, because currently this is just a test sprite

Btw it takes about 9-12 seconds to load

EDIT: Fixed a few bugs with it and reset today to 0

I got past the blurry character part by importing the original small sprite into Pixilart and downloading it from there in a much larger size and then exporting it into Flowlab with the bigger size.

I realize how late I am to this game but, oh boy, this was really fun. Usually I only play a Flowlab game for maybe ten minutes before clicking on a different one, but this one captivated me for the greater part of two whopping hours.

I love the sprites and the particle effects when the player runs. The music was pleasant and not pressure/stress-inducing on the player’s part. The fact that the player can even design their own levels is spectacular — not a lot of games do this. And the humor in the game is the cherry on top.

10/10.

It means a lot to me that someone actually liked the game this much, thank you! :llama:

No, it never really got to the stage I wanted it to

For some reason, the blast is slightly too low and can’t fit in 1 block gaps making some levels impossible

Don’t revive dead topics but this time its okay since CodeAlpaca is still active

What levels are doing this? I play tested the game before and after the jam and didn’t encounter any problems.

levels 4, 14, and 16

Alright, it’s fixed now, thanks for telling me! I had changed the sprite of the blast before and it accidentally made the hitbox bigger. Looking back on the game I actually really like it, so it was fun going back to it
