Ember's art and animation club [OPEN TO REQUESTS] (Part 1)

I just don’t understand why the mixels are always hated just because they don’t have inconsistent pixel sizes. Besides, it’s can be the perfect part of the sprite art if you know how to use it and that’s what I’m trying to make. It’s also annoying when you have to be constrained into a pattern that always “told me” that I can NOT flexible use of mixels just because it looks inconsistent.

Technically it’s your game and you can use whatever brush size you want for any sprite. Although the main reason that Mixels are frowned upon is mostly because it adds inconsistency to the art style of the game.

Let’s say the game layer uses mostly 1 pixel size for walls, enemies, ect. Then you have a background sprite that’s quite large, but uses size 3 or 4, it stands out like a sore thumb since the pixel size is much larger than the rest of the game. There are times when Mixels can be properly used in art, but it’s very difficult trying to get it to blend well with the rest of the game.

I’ve seen a lot of people in the past use size 2 commonly for their game, but then use size 1 for character’s faces and smaller details, which doesn’t always pan out too well, since you can clearly see the pixel inconsistency.

Like I said, you can continue using Mixels if you so please, but like many of the other people trying to explain to you, it’s not a very good habit to get into, since it definitely makes the art inconsistent, and a lot of people view it as a lazier choice in art design.

I might be drawing the hardest animation I have ever done.

A walk to rolling animation for my overly detailed player sprite.

I put this off like… a week, lol.

20 minutes and I finished the first frame!
I really hate this.

just use the rotate button

Are you drawing a new sprite every time? Also, often, it’s not as much about the frame count of the animation, as it is about the timing.

No. I just have a ■■■■ lot of animations, lol.

I know, but I like smooth animations.

Hahaha!

Heyy, he’s kinda cute!

Until he demolishes you.

Finished the Swirly Swirly spell! This is his first attack, which will emit a short ranged small shockwave. Emit a wave of your own to negate this attack.

Drawing of a robot I made at 11 PM.
I’m really proud of it.
Also if you didn’t notice I made a mistake with the footsteps so I put a rock near one of them to show it sort of tripped as some dumb excuse.
I LOVE ROBOTS!!!
