@meburningslime The Movement is very annoying, and making every character literally top down is a bit difficult. And it’s not the classic “Top down” style in video game movement.

Besides, I said earlier we were going to have both. Yours and mine as 2 separate game modes:

  • Classic Top Down

Also, I have decided the Weapon System:

Everyone can use:

  • Basic Knife

-Basic Gun

-Basic Grenade

-Basic Staff

Separate Classes can evolve weapons tied to their class:

  • Survivalist - Basic Knife --> Machete

-Techno - Basic Gun --> Techno Rifle

-Medic - Basic Grenade --> Expert medical Grenade

-Exorcist - Basic Staff --> Exorcist Staff

@meburningslime @ShadowAxeKid @seamothmaster45 YOU GUYS are the main coders. If I really need to code something while working on sprites, I will, but the majority is you guys

If you are unhappy with this, please post, I will understand, coding is hard, and you may just want to do art. I’m not saying you can’t do both, so please don’t be afraid to speak out. You can do art and code.

Right now I need someone to finish the “Class select,” which the code I attempted to get from the “Character Select” example from grazer.

Also do post what went wrong with the code and why it won’t work (I’m sure it was the spawn node, but I can’t be sure) It’s always good to learn from what went wrong.

Ok so just to let you guys know I’m still alive and read what I missed.

First of all, @“The Kodex” @meburningslime Both of your styles are cool, but I kinda agree with kodex. The classic up-down is pretty limited in movement and animation, so it makes it overall bland and not all that special. That isn’t always the case, for things like these.

Kodex while yours offers more mobility and movement, from a graphical perspective, it doesn’t have anything unique to it, or something that makes people realise “Hey! That person if from the ____ game!” I see way to many make similar art like this in flowlab. There isn’t anything wrong with it, but its a just pretty common. We want to make a horror game, so we want everything distinct from the other games.

So yeah, pretty bland. Nothing wrong with it, but it just doesn’t really fit with the game we are going for. You guys wanted an opinion, so I said my opinion. :neutral:

Weapon System
I actually really like the way you made it, and the way the weapon system kind of evolves as you go on, but the only thing I’d like to suggest is that there is one more evolution stage. I feel like it should evolve more than once. Maybe name it Advanced ______ or something like that if you feel like it.

yeah @meburningslime you can just keep my description plz and yeah im with @seamothmaster45 i like it and i also have been doing school work im only allowed to do this on break

@ShadowAxeKid , It’s really difficult creating sprites and then trying trying to get them into multiple positions. Adding detail may be something that can be added later but now we need to focus on the basic, main, base sprites. Besides, the only way to have a unique design is having a cartoonist kind of a style and that is not very easy to do with pixel art and does not match a horror game. And baring in mind I did say i’m average at art and cannot do very detailed pixel art like:114-1146774_pixelart-character-sprite-character-pixel-art-png

Do not expect a high level of pixel art from me. Please be free to add more detail to the sprites that I have done (as long as you make sure when you do it to one you add it to all it’s animations) so it does not look so plain. I spent hours on those so I hope they are ok to use, Because we at least need a Beta version of the Game soon with a basic version of everything to test if it is playable.

And also try to work on “Class Select” as well. That needs to be coded soon as well. But help with sprites would be a big help, as there is a lot to do and only me doing it. @ShadowAxeKid try to add detail to all of my sprites while I do them. And, if you can, try to code some stuff as well.

can i make a class? and what about my knife?

Your Knife is a collectable item in the game in which the survivalist can upgrade to machete @witherdragon4 , and You can make a 5th class that can be unlocked when you survive a certain time period (or not, I just though that would be cool as some sort of achievement)

Progress Review:

Can someone please start designing the map? I’m doing the Sprites, @witherdragon4 is trying to get something done, @ShadowAxeKid is busy and is giving very useful criticism and feedback and @meburningslime is trying to figure out where this game is going. I’m not even going to mention @sab00031 , whose invitation is still pending. I’m the only one who has worked on the “Classic top down mode” so far, and I am going to call out @meburningslime for all his work in the “True Top Down Mode” as well so I can’t really complain.

Here is an example of some roles:

Post if you disagree but that is what I have decided based on previous posts. We need to make some more significant progress to the game.

  • [UPDATE] Creepy Tomb (On the same level)

  • Forest

Don’t forget to add things to make the map seem less plain (e.g spare objects, flowers, furniture…)

Wait is there a separate map for the “underground”? I can do that as well as long as I have a rough sketch of its layout.

  I am also halfway done with the map. Once I'm done, I'll try to do the graphical side of coding (such as particles) and maybe start making a basic weapon system for each character. I will also do the character select page if no one really gets to it yet. Once I'm done with those, I can work on improving the landscape to look much better and more natural. Sounds like a good plan for me so far. Pretty sure all of those are quite important.

Shadow i can do some special effects gor underground.

@ShadowAxeKid I think it’s great you want to do so much so i’m going to leave the underfround to you and @meburningslime and I’ll try to work on the select screen when I come up with a title.

I’m happy with everything else you set yourself doing, and the “Select Class” basic code also does need doing. Thanks @ShadowAxeKid for your dedication.
