I was thinking about this for a while, how you have to manually record and time your flowlab game runs in order to even submit a valid speedrun.
I was trying to mess with some code and then I realized, the leaderboard behavior.
The Leaderboard behavior checks if a player opens the editor, so I was wondering if there was a way to use the Leaderboard to give the player a score of a random number and check if they have a score for that current run, if they do, then there could be a timer to record their run. If they arenāt given a score (using the Leaderboard to detect if they opened the editor) then it wonāt present a timer and they have to restart the game.
I donāt know If this will work, since I no longer have indie to test this, but I feel there could be an example made up that could revolutionize speed running games on flowlab.
I also donāt know how well timers work on specific devices, cause I remember when everyone was speed running one of pixel pizzaās games and some people were getting a whole 10 secondās more than other people, so I donāt know if computer performance or browser performance can effect timer delays or not.
Like I said, I donāt know if this would work, but I think it would definitely be an idea to consider since that way anyone can freely speedrun games without having to use adding a timer on top of your recording. I donāt know if it is allowed on Speedrun.com or not since I do think you need a legit recording with timer displayed for that, but at least to record on the flowlab game itself.
Iām surprised to see my game here, as I was thinking about speedrunning myself. I changed the reset button so that it also resets the timer and readded Speedrun mode. I even got my best time yet but had forgotten to record the run. Took me a good 20 minutes.
uhh, well. Iāll add it, but if the score time is actually good like sub 25 is hard, then Iāll remove it. But if a good time is 18, then ig Iāll leave it because it doesnāt really affect standings
Also the splits are similar to the times I was getting on the beginning levels anyways, so itās not absurd. Yeah the image is weird, because when switching levels it showed the portal, and you can see the game running behind the weapon option
Is Windows Game Bar the default screen recorder? For me, besides audio being weird with Mac specifically, just the built in screen recorder works as well as OBS
