19.99 for a tool youāll use an insane amount of time and get tons of use out of is too expensive? also, you can download the source code and watch a video tutorial on how to compile it for free
Nowadays, I just use GIMP or the Flowlab sprite editor.
why dont you just use Pixilart
I donāt use pixilart anymore.
Yes, I could infer that from you not stating it in your previous post. Iām asking why, its much better than both GIMP and the flowlab editor for pixel art
Have you used GIMP? I feel itās pretty useful. I used it to make many arts when I was in my Friday Night Funkinā modding phase. It also has a bunch of tools and stuff. Pixilart is good too but I think you get what I mean.
Which one would be better for pixilart?
Use piskel or download the source code of asesprite and then watch a video on how to compile it. Pixilart is incredibly bloated and riddled with ads and Gimp isnāt made for pixel art.
Real ones use the Flowlab sprite editor
You can use Pixilart with an ad blocker and the ads are blocked. How is it ābloatedā though? I donāt get that part, otherwise I totally get what you mean. To me Piskel seems a bit hard to get into but I can see its use. Aseprite is obviously good too (maybe best one) but I use Pixilart whenever I donāt use the Flowlab sprite editor simply because itās more easily accessible
To me it feels like there are loads of useless features(stamps, templates, the paintbrush tool, etc.) and it lacks a lot of actually useful features like custom brushes, the pencil tool not having shape options on higher sizes and the focus on the social media features.
Oh yeah, definitely /srs. Thanks for clarifying, I get it now. IIRC there was a way to make the pencil tool be circle shaped on higher sizes, but I forgot what it was and usually I did it by accident.
Summary
You can make your own by drawing something, selecting it, then going into tools/options and clicking the set brush
button; I just did this right now. But it would be really useful and nice if there was a way to have custom brushes made by other people, using the same system and functionality as the custom palettes.
While I agree, it makes sense to me why they do this [from a business standpoint]. Itās their way setting themselves apart from their (possibly better) competitors like Aseprite and Piskel.
I see your point and respect your opinion. If I find the time or something, Iāll use Aseprite, but for now Iām sticking to Pixilart for convienience. Iāve seen how good you are with Aseprite, and I think itās really cool. (why do I type so much these days)
Do you have an acount on it? I wanna followw
