I was honestly going to skip this jam like last time because I couldnāt think of a game to make with the theme. But last thursday I came up with a pretty good idea that I thought it would be worth to make a game with the remaining 2 days left. So here it is.
Hive-Jacked by JR 01 Games
Hive-Jacked is a game about a wasp infiltrating your hive. As the queen, you must command your army to fight the intruder, but be careful as the wasp can turn them against you too.
The Beeās are controlled by a boids test similar I made 2 weeks ago, the system can be optimized but it was something I wanted to add to the Jam if I ever do make a game. Boids move around the level by trying not to run into other boids and at the same time as moving to a target if there is one. In Hive-Jacked, the boids finds the closest enemy and crash into it. When you have controll of the beeās (yellow beeās), you can hold down click to make them move towards the cursor. You can use this to attract the enemy bees or just try to fully attack the boss without going for the enemy bees.
This game was made in 2 days and is one of the few games where I did all of the game art myself for once. I spend a lot of time getting the puppet animation using joints in flowlab, as well as the animted background with hexagon objects. Try it out and let me know what you think. I plan on adding several more features to the game after the Jam is over.
Also if your struggling beating the second phase, here's the strategy used in the game.
In the second phase, enemy Bees spawn twice as much as normal bees, so you will need to grab some normal bees and try to keep a few bees to move the enemy beeās to once side so you can melee all the enemy bees. Do this while any extra bees you have to attack the wasp.
