Set the hitbox to polygon.
And also, the only thing that affects the hitbox is the base sprite, animations can’t affect it.

You can create an object like a small rectangle for example, and apply an animation to it so it shows itself as a square, when it’s original hit box is the rectangle.
I know setting it to polygon helps which you’ll also want to do, but if you want to have more intricate hit boxes, that’s a trick I use.
