I need close background art that’s right past the visual perspective. I can’t draw without it looking like it’s in the foreground and messing you up. Does anybody have any tips?

Something good for a background is to have the colors for it be darker.
Something like this. See how the pink bricks and the background bricks are basically the same sprite just one of them are darker?
What I would do is just select a color and then just go to the more darker area of it.
Would probably be better in most cases to just use the darker shades on a colour palette.

Yeah, but in the brick sprite, it already uses all the shades of that color so it can’t get any darker.

The main problem is that the things are various colours so it still appears to be in the main area.
I made another version of the floor, slightly higher than the normal, in the background so the background things appear to be behind that but it’s still confusing
