Make the art in Photoshop or somewhere, shrink it to a 32x32 pixel ratio and import it into Flowlab.

ok

Hi @glithctyrus ! You could’ve tagged me
I use Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator. I start at the actual size (32x32 or 64x64) and draw on the canvas as if it was a “normal” drawing.

And dang, you are talented @PixelPizza

I can only imagine how many hours into the gfx alone went.

@TinkerSmith thank you so much

P.S. I listed some of my favorite paint proggies here:

Krita has quite the learning curve, but it is worth it, very professional options.
Paint.net I use for quick and dirty fix ups and modifications. Has no animation support by deafult, but many options can be added through plugins.

The other ones both support animations.
Pixly, the Android one … I nearly didn’t use it, it looked so basic. But it is surprisingly well designed and I now use it all the time when I’m ‘on the road’.
@grazer have a look at the sprite sheet import procedure there, I quite like it

Peeps, any other good (free) products you know I could add ?

@TinkerSmith Please add pixilart on there, it is the best pixel art editor I know and use!
