Yeah JoJo references popular bands and musicians a lot, especially after part 3 but throughout the whole series as well. The last of Dio’s henchmen in part 3 is literally named “Vanilla Ice”. Because of all these copyrighted names, they had to be localized outside of Japan and Europe and thus JoJo became significantly less popular outside of those places. For example, a part 5 Stand called “Sticky Fingers” got localized into “Zipper Man” because of it’s ability involving zippers.
