New Update: Audio! 🔊

I just deployed an editor update focused on audio. Here’s what’s in it:

bugfixes:

  • Fixed spawned objects not cancelling playback on despawn
  • Fixed sound volume setting collisions / “shared volume”
  • Fixed sound volume / playback ordering issue
  • Fixed objects in Interface layer getting misaligned clicks on zoom (@The_KWASM)

New pro sound effects (available to indie/education users only):

Sound effects are a huge and often overlooked part of a game’s feel, and I have been wanting to add more options for a really long time. These new licensed sound effects (more than 2,300!) sound great, fill in some holes (yay animals!), and are now available to anyone with an upgraded account to include in their games free of charge. I plan to add more as time goes on (and the budget allows).

Let me know below if you have any issues, or what you think about the new sound effect options.

I feel like users with a free membership should be able to add their own sound effects too.

Free users can add sound effects already, using an .mp3 link.

This is a great update! Maybe adding a ‘search sound’ feature is also due? Sifting through over 2,000 sounds will be a lot lol but thank you for the update, can’t wait to try it out:D

Over 2,000?! I guess I know what I’m doing for the next hour or so…

@grazer there is an issue where if an audio file is downloaded as the same name as an already existing audio file, all games and blocks of your account witj the old file will be replaced with the new one.

Are you saying that if you upload a sound file with the same name twice, the second upload will overwrite the first one?

If so, that’s intentional, but there should probably be a warning first.

Is there a tutrOrial for that? I could never figurr out how that worked

There is no tutorial - you just put in a url pointing directly to an mp3 file, and it will play. It should look something like:

Yes that is what I’m saying. I didn’t realize and accidentally broke Serenity. Is there any way to fix this without adding more to my 400 undeletable sound files?

If you make a new file, just add numbers behind it. That’s what I’m doing with voice lines and alarm sound effects.

Why are they undeletable? I currently don’t have a way to undo sound updates, they are kept in unversioned cloud storage.
