Overma Game Jam! Space Theme! 🚀

I forgot to mention in the previous reply that the game does get harder with every 10 day mark. Asteroids also pop up too if you haven’t seen them.

Cosmic Stranded:

The leaderboard in the game really added a level of competition to the game. I’ve played it for at least an hour.

Art: The art in the game is pretty simple, but it’s pretty repetitive and get’s a bit boring over-time. 7/10

Playability: As I said before, the leaderboard makes the game much more competitive and the gameplay itself is pretty good, not to mention fun! 8/10

Audio: The game had as much audio as needed, but it could do with some thruster sounds. There are a lot of different sfx though. 9/10

Controls: The controls for the player were pretty good. The only thing keeping this from a 8 or 9/10 is the clicker part. Having to click each planet four times does seem practical to my brain… my hands seemed to think otherwise. 7/10

Overall: 7.75

I really liked this game. Maybe add RIght click for breaking planets as-well.

the gameplay is good i give it a 7/10
Audio: I like the background music, and the sounds are good i give it a 6/10

Overall:7.5/10

Cosmic Stranded:

ART: Definitely done with a set vision in mind. Very cohesive and gets the job done. 8/10

Playability: You click planets indefinitely. The gameplay could definitely use a lot more to spice it up, such as events or a difficulty curve. 4/10

Audio: Again, it gets the job done. Very solid all around. The music selection was REALLY good in my opinion. 7/10

Controls: Clicking. Compatible with mobile as well, that’s an extra point in my book. 7/10

Overall: 6.5/10.

Final notes:
This game was extremely well put-together except for gameplay. It felt extremely tedious and boring after just about 5 days. There’s almost never any asteroids, which makes it very easy not to die (which shouldn’t really be the case if you’re stranded in space). I suggest adding events, like a meteor shower, or losing food, that would make the game harder and more fun to play.

Space Survivors:

Art: The art is pretty good. The background and the ship are a bit fuzzy and the ship’s thrusters don’t look the best, but it’s not too bad. 7/10

Playability: The gameplay is pretty good. The spaceship’s movement is overly slow though. 6/10

Audio: There is only sound for space and the menu though. It could do with some sfx and background music on the planets. 6/10

Controls: The movement is pretty smooth, but, as I said before, the spaceship is way too slow. 5/10

Overall: 6/10

Final notes: Definitely add some music for the planets and make the ship’s movement faster. Also, I just found that the space-music doesn’t loop.
It’s a pretty good game, but the slow movement and lack of sfx make it a bit boring at times.

Jake

Space survivors:
Art: The art was pretty good i give it a 7/10
Playability: The game is fun though they didn’t finish the game i give it a 6/10
Audio: There’s no sound so i give it a 2/10
Controls: The controls are just the WASD i give it a 5/10
Overall:7/10

BradenS

Space Survivors:

ART: Extremely incohesive. Stolen art (Not credited). Background doesn’t repeat seamlessly, and there’s… an Adobe stock watermark?? Animations (where they were) were clunky. 3/10

Playability: Just find some randomized rocks, click on them, then return back to the ship. There’s no indicator to where your ship is, so it’s easy to get lost in the large map. Also, oxygen doesn’t seem to deplete, and white crystals don’t have a use for anything? Gameplay was very confusing. 4/10

Audio: No audio. 2/10

Controls: Very slow player, just basic top-down movement and clicking. The ship when you’re in the transistion level is HORRENDOUSLY slow. 5/10

Overall: 3.5/10.

Final notes:
Generally felt extremely confusing and clunky, and the product didn’t come together well. More work needs to be done.

Josh’s Space Junk Mission:

This game is pretty fun. It could do with zooming in and out though.

Art: The art was pretty good. There were a few original sprites. 6/10

Playability: I think the gameplay is pretty good. There is a button to re-play the game, which is good. 7/10

Audio: There are sfx for most things, but the thruster could use a bit of sound. 6/10

Controls: The controls worked, which is good. This is just me, but I really don’t like the kind of movement. It was made fairly well though. 8/10

Overall: 6.75

This game could use a bit more detail at the launch pad and more space… stuff. It was pretty good though. I didn’t know how many points I needed to win though.

Art: I kinda liked the art though it’s pretty good i give it a 7/10
Playability: I liked flying around gathering junk,
though it got boring over time i give it a 7/10
Audio: The sounds and music are fun i give it a 8/10
Controls: The controls are simple i give it a 4/10
Overall: 7/10

Josh’s Space Junk Mission:

Art: The animations were super fun! I loved the little launch cutscene, more games should be doing this! There should be a proper sprite for the player, instead of just using the default sprite. The actual rocket animations could be done a bit better. Menus were laid out well but could have better art. 6/10

Playability: The gameplay is alright. Just a endless collecting game, but there’s not really any obstacles or objectives to make the game enjoyable. There’s also no timer for when the game will end? 5/10

Audio: N/A

Controls: The controls worked, but the rocket felt extremely drifty. Needs some adjustment so it feels like the player actually has control over their spacecraft. 4/10

Overall: 6/10

Final notes:
The cutscenes in this game made it really memorable to me! The gameplay was just very lacking compared to the overall charm.

Galaxy battles:

ART: The art isn’t too bad, there are a few original sprites, but the main character sprites are drawn. 6/10

Playability: The game has simple gameplay and it works pretty well. 7/10

Audio: The game has enough audio, but it could use some background music. Background music plays a large role in Gameplay. 6/10

Controls: The controls for the first player were okay but they didn’t work very well. It’s not very smooth. 6/10

Overall: 6.5/10.

Final notes:
The game was pretty good for how much time you had to make it. Definitely add menu and in-game background music. Maybe try to fix the movement as-well. Also, the final level could use a few more enemies. The player can walk straight and almost never touch any enemies.

Jake

Galaxy battles:
Art: The art isn’t the best but it’s not bad i give it a 5/10
Playability: It’s simple but it works i give it 6/10
Audio: It doesn’t have a lot sound I’d like if it had background music, i give a 3/10
Controls: The controls are standard i give it a 5/10
Overall: 6/10

BradenS

Galaxy battles:

Art: The art works. Nothing much can be said. The animation is pretty choppy and everything is very basic. Could use a lot more juice 5/10

Playability: Pretty much a GALACDRIVE bootleg with no fun elements. You just fly at a crawl infinitely while dodging equally slow asteroids. 2/10

Audio: N/A

Controls: Slow and extremely simple. Description says you can use WASD but you can only use A and D? 3/10

Overall: 3.3/10.

Final notes:
Definitely needs a lot more gameplay variety and juice. Overall felt a bit slow and boring.

Wow I got 2nd place on my first game jam!

Also why did I get a 5.33 score on my controls, I don’t know what to add or take to make it any better.

If you haven’t seen in the topic for Cosmic Stranded I took PixelPizza’s suggestion and now whatever your mouse is hovering if you click spacebar it counts as a left click.
