It doesn’t get easier :sweat_smile: It takes some getting used to, retro games have a tendency of being a bit unforgiving and not explaining too much - which is the basic idea of Bowe’s Arcade. But it let’s the player understand after a bit. Trial and error.

Anyways, since the game isn’t fully out yet (technically), make sure to have no spoilers! You can talk about the games themselves, but no story stuff yet:D Thank you!

Most definitely, there is! I have a feeling this is the exact type of game you’d like lol the story is more of a big implication that the player has to try and figure out. Plus, if you didn’t already know, if is connected to DATE-A! (the original FlowJam one), so there’s a small hint - although it doesn’t really mean anything in this game.

Alright, If it’s anything like fnaf, I’ll be sure to check every corner for any secrets.

Also the game I’m working on has some lore, but its mostly uncovered by playing the game, and it’s not much of a secret, but more of an optional choice if you choose to explore the map.

It’s more inspired by the mini games in FNaF - I liked the limited storytelling style and wanted to try it out.

And I can’t wait to see your project! Don’t know if you’ve been posting updates anywhere on the forums, but I know your style and I enjoy it (it’s a bit similar to Huckleberry’s, which I’m a big fan of lol)! I also like the idea of exploration. I kind of have that in this project, but it’s highest extent is a different ending XD

I haven’t posted much on the game except on the private message between Abstract, Mebslime, and you’re actually on it as well, lol. But I’ve been spamming a lot on there so I wouldn’t be surprised if you overlooked it.

But yeah I can’t wait to play your game, I saw some teasers you posted and they look really cool.

Ah, okay, yeah I’ve been only really checking certain messages recently. I’ll pop on sometimes to get rid of the notification, or if I’ve been @'d (which I don’t think I have been of recent?). But I had no idea what was going on lol so I might just pop on to say hello:)

BOWE’S ARCADE - WINTER FLOWJAM 2022

Why does it feel like it shouldn’t be winter right now? Anyways, just wanted to make a quick announcement that Bowe’s Arcade is set to release tomorrow, January 15th, 2022, right when voting is unlocked with the FlowJam participants.

The controls are simple: Press E to start, WASD to move, F for fullscreen, and… That’s it! I made it a goal for the main game to only use WASD keys to make it as simplistic as possible for the controls. This being said, there is no tutorial in the game, even though the games are quite different in style and mechanics from one another. Yeah, I’m really going for that old school “drop you in water to teach you to swim” style retro games seem to always do, specifically inspired by the classic game called Adventure. I remember playing it on a cheap Atari, which is what I based the gameplay on.

There is also a coin hidden in each arcade game that may or may not impact the final ending if you find them all (or not…). In the meantime, I will be resuming development on SOL (well, I technically already did) and will be excitedly be waiting to play your FlowJam games!

Problem:
I kid you not: Nitrokart is legitamately impossible. After two hours i still can’t beat it, regardless of how much hitbox abuse i can pull off ._.

Are you sure? Here’s a tip that isn’t described in the game: the hotbox only triggers on the front of the player car, so you can essentially collide with enemy vehicles as long was you hit from the side only.

NitroKart is the most difficult game, but I have completed it a LOT during development, just short of 50 times through lol so it is definitely possible.

yeah, took me awhile to notice that I could just go through the cars if I hit them at the side
