Does the new Pokémon TCG pocket and Pokémon Go count? I have some Pokémon cards, but they are kind of in storage so I don’t have a clue what I have. All I know is that I do have a textured holofoil of Yveltal Ex from the XY base set.

I collect a lot more Magic the Gathering than pokemon cards. Although a lot of the older cards from 1993 are like $10,000 apiece for certain ones. But I don’t buy cards for collecting, I get cards to build decks and play.
I do have a first edition Spanish Krabby. No clue how I came into possession of it. I just found it in my collection one day. Probably traded for it back in middle school, but who knows.
Back when I was into pokemon, it got kind of dumb when I would pull some of full art holofoil and it was only worth like $0.10. I know magic the gathering does the same, but usually cards in magic are valued based on their strength or ability in the game. There’s a common card in the new Foundations set that’s worth like $4 which is one of the highest valued commons in the last couple sets because of how broken it is.
I never played the original pokemon tcg, but I guess it’s kind of disappointing that it was replaced. I know a lot of people were distraut over it, but the main reason I like the new TCG Pocket is because I don’t have a lot of money to get back into collecting real pokemon cards, since I have way too many other hobbies as is, and it’s just a fun game to collect cards and compare with freinds.

I don’t know how to exactly play the pokemon card game. Unless it’s the same thing as the TCG pocket game. That’s why I got into MTG.
