I’ve been using flowlab for a while now, and honestly, it’s a pretty great visual engine that definitely deserves more attention. However, there are some features that I just wish were here that aren’t provided with flowlab.
First of all, search bars: I’m not just talking about behaviors. Although yes, it would be nice to have a search bar for the behavior menu, it’s still far less annoying than having a massive library of global variables/animations and having to scroll through them every time, so a search bar would generally be really nice.
Pitch editor for sound: this is more of a personal convenience for me, and I have no clue how difficult it’d be to implement, but it would be cool if people were allowed to edit/change the pitch for sounds, especially for free users, but maybe this is giving them too much sound flexibility.
Editing keybinds in-game: This would just allow for a much easier way to create a keybind interface without too much trouble. Currently, a task like this would have to be pretty weird code-wise to pull off, and just being able to change the keybind by perhaps linking the “any key” feature to a new input or something similar would be pretty great for that specific purpose.
Layers for the sprite editor: Typically drawing tools allow you to create “layers”, and to be honest, they’d be super helpful for creating art and ESPECIALLY animating. I don’t know about you, but I’d personally find it helpful if you could have segments of a sprite on separate layers, and now if you want to move only one of them for the next frame of animation, you don’t have to drag the entire sprite a few pixels and move the rest manually. It’d just be such a great QoL change, please consider it.
Another quick convenience for the code editor I’d like to tag in: maybe a sort of dropdown bundle menu where you can see all the bundles you have in one behavior? Sometimes you just have too many bundles stacked in one another and maybe want to access some specific ones quicker than having to click through every single one. Although one is definitely not as important as some others.
And yeah… that’s pretty much it! Of course none of these features are exactly necessary, but I find that they could be really useful.
