Switching static objects from background to foreground

I am new to Flowlab, but I am having trouble understanding how my character can pass/walk by by an object with me choosing whether or not the object is in the background of my character or the foreground of my character. Right now I have two of the same exact objects (a set of mushrooms) with the same settings that seem to be giving me different results. One instance has my character walking behind the object and the other instance has my character walking in front of the object. What am I missing? Thanks!

I’m slightly confused what you want, but I’m guessing this can be fixed through layering. Layer the player to 2, and make an object 1 or sometimes 3 so that the player is only sometimes behind it.
