Time stop when mario touches flagpole

is there a way for the timer to stop when mario touches the flagpole?

Have the timer going through a switch that’s initially turned on for the countdown. When Mario touches the flagpole, have him send a message to the timer. Put a mailbox in the timer with the message name, and connect it to the off of the countdown switch.
