How to Upload to Itch.io (HTML)

With the new Flowjam being hosted on Itch.io Grazer updated the the process so it’s easier to export to Itch.io. However, you probably don’t know how to do it so this is a set by step guide on what you’ll need to do.

First click the “Share” button (the purple arrow)

Then this should pop up, you’ll see a “Download” button, click that and download the file. You’ll name the file, so I’m just gonna label it GoF HTML. Also keep a note that the game is 1024x576 pixels.

Next open up Itch.io and go to your profile (if you don’t have one, you’ll need to create one. It’s very easy to do, just the same as a Flowlab account basically). Click the "Dashboard’ Button on the top left.

Now you’ll be taken here, click the red “Create New Project” button

See the option outlined, it will by default be set to “Download.” Change it to “HTML
Here you can also upload a thumbnail, screenshot, description, tags, etc.

Scroll down and click “Upload Files.” Then search for the game file you just downloaded and add it
(as stated earlier, I titled mine “Gof HTML”)

Once it’s added, make sure to click “This file will be played in the browser

Then, scroll down a little more and enter in those game dimensions from earlier when you were exporting the game (1024x576 in this case)
Click “Save” in the top right and you should be done! Goodluck with your game everyone!

Also, keep in mind that you can add an Itch.io widget to your game’s page (if you have access to page themes). This is helpful if you want to sell your game or take donations using Itch’s payment mechanisms

I know on Flowlab you can make page themes with indie. Does it also require payment to edit the page theme on Itch?

Also, a bit off topic, is itch useable to sell games?

From what I know Itch does not have any subscription services.
And Itch is a platform to sell your games.

Itch doesn’t require any sort of subscription for editing the page, and like DeadlyGumChewer said, I believe itch is entirely free (even the portion they take if your game is paid is decided by you)

Whoop, thanks for spotting that missing T.

Got it, thanks.

How do I make it full screen, I tired to but it doesn’t fill the whole screen it just sits there being small in the corner???

If you use the Fullscreen behavior built inside of Flowlab it works fine :+1:

Yeah, the full screen option on itch doesn’t work the same as the game doing it itself.
You will have to use the full screen behavior in flowlab to go fullscreen on itch.

Ok but that doesn’t work for me when I try

How are you doing it?

O to full screen in flowlab and for itch.io I’m doing it how the guild said to do and I tried itch.io’s full screen button with flowlab full screen and no button and browser version on itch

You will have to use O to full screen on itch too, you cant use the full screen option from itch. Just the one you make in flowlab.

is there any way to make the itch fullscreen work?

I guess flowlab just hates me if it’s not working than

Could you share the itch page?
