SOL - MINOR FIX UPDATE

Just a few small fixes I was able to get done after work:

  1. Fixed the issue where the idle animation would stop playing if you jumped right after you attacked (first attack animation only). Idle continues as normal now.
  2. Fixed, or at least seems to be fixed, the issue where speed attacking would occasionally phase through wall/ground objects and very frequently phase through the door obstacle. Now behaves properly. Small, very minor issue is that sometimes the speed attack wont work once after being stopped at a wall, turning around, and speed attacking the other direction.

This should not be noticeable by the time energy is a resource and speed attacking would not be means of traversal. Still may fix this minor issue in the future.

SOL - MINOR AIR-DASH UPDATE

A few small fixes a tweaks done after work:

  1. Made it so the gravity turns off when air-dashing, and back on once the air-dash movement is finished. This should allow for a more smooth feeling with more control.
  2. Made it so air-dashing FX turn off if you air-dash into a wall slide movement.
  3. Made the air-dash move a lot further to add more reason to use it. It has been going about the same length of a jump, which did not give it much utility for the metroidvania elements in the game. The new air-dash length is about 50% further the longest jump length.

I’m afraid that the forums don’t support raw MP4 files to be shared - only YouTube videos. Which I honestly don’t have the time to set up a video on YouTube, especially for a short video when I try to keep dev-log stuff above 3 minutes.

It is just a very short clip, and you will see much much more with the update video.

SOL - MINOR ANIMATION UPDATE

Not as big of an update as I wanted - in fact, much smaller. Was doing a lot more stuff today than anticipated. Basically, all that I was able to do so far today was get started on the third move of the combo attacks, which isn’t finished yet. I’ll show you the rough version below. Hope to get this finished by tomorrow and added to the game by the end of this week:D

EDIT: For some reason the GIF file is… Corrupted. I’ll be having to start from scratch… Big sigh moment

SOL - MINOR ANIMATION UPDATE (fr this time…)

This has been… A process. My previous pixel art maker was Piskel, but for some reason there has been having some issues with the files, exporting, and so on, corrupting the animation. So, I caved and got Aseprite, which is probably for the better. It has a ton of nifty tools, but I am still figuring it out.

So, I got the 3rd combo animation wrapped up - still needs some tweaks, but overall this is what it will be looking like:

So, the whole combo will look something like this (got to use some of your imagination):

Next will be implementing the animation and wrapping up the combat animation part - then onto the actual logic of the combat (fun).

SOL - SMALL ANIMATION UPDATE :ninja:

Some things I forgot to mention here plus some more minor new stuff:

  1. Added and implemented the new final animation of the combo.
  2. Added special and sound FX to the final animation.
  3. Fixed the issue where the final animation would interrupt the idle animation.
  4. Worked on some timing systems for the combo.

Not too much more to report. Next step will be starting work on solidifying enemies via their health system. Going to start with a dummy enemy that will both act as a tutorial item for the player as well as a test for me.

@rcreger so uhh, putting em into clipcamp in noticed they seem kind slow, i like quick attacks and the that they would work far betterr
