Bmarzi's Knockout Reviews

It’s one of the best movies ever made, it’s super 90s, lots of leather and teenaged angst.

Glow by @hi4250five

I need some direction on what I’m supposed to be doing in this game. I think you can touch the pumpkins but you cannot touch the jack-o-lanterns. I figured out how to float but couldn’t get up far enough.

I like the minimalist color scheme, but the pumpkins feel cheaper than the rainbow particles, which are absolutely awesome. The black and white looks really cool, but the pumpkins should be flat orange with black jack’o’lanterns, they’re too busy. I really like the gun, but it is way too big for the guy, even to be intentional.

Things you need: a menu, music, clear instructions and objectives.

Theme: The art style glows as much as title implies. Figure out what it means and why it glows. 2/5 stars
Fun: Nothing really to do but multiply pumpkins, need to add objectives so the player has a goal to achieve. 2/5 stars
Artwork/Sound: The artwork is intentionally simple and look really nice, the pumpkins need some work; also the game needs music. 3/5 stars
Creativity: This game is currently not very original, but it could be. 1/5 stars
Overall: This game has a lot of potential to be a beautifully fun game. Keep going. 2 stars

I need more games to review…

You’ve finally reached the end, how does it feel?

after the first wave, every review topic dies down.

The colory complexion of complex colors complete with concrete color cyborgs of complex emotions and colorful personalities.

I have so many games needed to be reviewed, I have the power to revive and/or maintain the lifeforce of any review topic almost instantly (depending on the reviewer as well). I just don’t because I don’t want to overwhelm anybody.

Send them a few at a time, I’m keeping a list going so I shouldn’t get to overwhelmed. I like to review one game every day or so.

Here you go! This is one of my other games. I’m still working on the campaign with Flying Fajita and BradenS. I have yet to add the finishing details to Campaign level1.

Aghhhhhhhhh.
Ok, I’ll need to look into the game and version lock it

Issue has been fixed :+1: Also moved the Full Screen object to the UI layer instead of the game layer. I will now version lock this game to try and prevent any bugs lol

Color Complex by @CodeAlpaca

This game is a lot of fun and extremely well done. The art is very nice and the style is consistent, however some pixel sizes are mismatched. Personally I feel everything should be the same size, I think it looks nicer. The animations are incredible, even something simple like the doors opening look really good.

I like the main menu, the background art is great. I would suggest making the “community maps” button the size of two of the others to make it look even:

image

After second glance I see that the font sizes are different and the width of the buttons is also different… looks like you wanted the main buttons to be more prominent, but there isn’t enough difference for them to stand out. Either make them the same size or obviously different.

Also, “F” for fullscreen only works on the main menu, none of the other levels. When you finish a level it should take you to the level screen not the main menu… and the “home” button on the leaderboard page should be in the top right corner like the rest of the game.

The levels are great! I like that each level has a title that sometimes adds a clue as to how to complete it. I have an issue with level 4, the 3rd red button is hard to see behind the UI… try to adjust it if you can, otherwise don’t worry about it. Also, I think the hexagon background art should be done in pixels like the rest of the game, it’s minor but it kind of stands out as a different style. Lastly, I like the tips on the bottom, especially “Do people read these?” That made me laugh.

One more lastly, amazing job on the level creator, not sure how you did it but I plan to study this game because I really enjoyed that… you should add a description that pops up when you highlight each item. Also add the ability to delete and add a button to show the controls again.

Theme: The game doesn’t have a glaring theme, but everything fits so well together that it really doesn’t need anything. 4/5 stars
Fun: Each level is different and forces you to think about how to complete them. 5/5 stars
Artwork/Sound: The art style is consistent and the music and sound effects all fit. I would try to make everything the same size pixels. 4/5 stars
Creativity: The game combines a puzzle game and a platformer well, at first glance it looks like other games, but the programming is fantastic and the artwork exceptional. The level creator is really new for Flowlab… at least I haven’t seen anything like it. 5/5 stars
Overall: This is a really fun game with lots of levels to figure out and a level creator that is really well done. The art style and sound effects are fun and fit the game perfectly. 4.5 stars

Next game is Vironia Saga followed by Tank Arena

Ty for the review! Really great points for all of it! I would like to note I didn’t create a large portion of the art, much of it is assets from Craftpix. I’ll definitely try to update the game when I have the chance and just keep this all in mind in general

Not finished yet but it’s at a playable state

i have another one

There’s nothing to review yet in this game… something in your campaign level is immediately bringing me to your parkour level. Double check everything and make sure the game actually works, then send it back and I’ll definitely check it out. I like the menu so far… some mixed pixel sizes, which you should no by now I’m not a fan of. But it’s still a good start.
