- Machine Gun round damage decreased from 190 to 170
- Flamethrowers increase your heat when in use
- Plasma weapons now leave a damaging AOE (40 damage every 0.1 sec, 3 sec duration)

Is the AOE damage based on the proximity of the enemy to the object that caused the AOE?
Yep.
Enemies will use a proximity to check whether they are in the bounds of the AOE.

Does the AOE do more damage based on how close the enemy is to the origin of the AOE?
