wwwwwwwhhhhhhhhooooooooohhhhoooooohooo! ! ! ! ! !
Is that what you were looking for when you mentioned blood knight? Like was it an armor, or was it an actual humanoid being? I figured it would have much better use being an armor, but I figured I’d ask you before I officially add it as one or the other.
yeh it was!
screen over lay for blood knight:
I’m not saying that it’s terrible, cause it does look pretty good, but it has very minimal eyesight and makes the game a bit difficult.
But when I get to eventually adding it, then I’ll work on the screen overlay along with the gas mask.
At first I didn’t even plan on adding a screen overlay for the blood knight, but it does look pretty cool.
For a piece of jewelry, maybe a locket/necklace that has an hourglass on it, and the longer you wear it the more blood it fills up with, and when it gets too full you die (or something along those lines. It can also be a bracelet but having an hourglass bracelet seems weird). A watch would also work well for this.
Another item might be a clipboard of the facility Work Log. So if you’re by an area a guard might walk by you’ll see a little notification showing that. (Could also be a blueprint of the facility and you’ll get a warning if you’re near an entity cell)
Also instead of a vest, I think a tougher material lab coat would be better because vests won’t protect against most entities, and a tougher lab coat would make sense for experiments.
I could make it a stop watch or maybe a pocket watch. Once you equip it, it starts counting down like a minute or so, but it gives you a slight boost during that time. Once it’s up it has a minute or so cool down. Kind of a generic item, but it’s helpful, but not to broken.
I had a few ideas for something like this. Although I can’t really configure a map of the foundation since I eventually plan on adding map generation so it would be very difficult to make. Although I wanted to add the official documents in the game that explain either entities, personnel roles, or secret messages that explain hidden lore behind subject: 000. Although I wanted to add these throughout the game, but once you find them, they’ll be visible from the menu. (Possibly)
Guards currently won’t do much except walk around and possibly die if you lead Subject: 009 or someone near them. They’ll be very rare since most personnel evacuated and the remaining employees are either dead or stuck in certain room. I was wanting to make them follow you around until they do die or the end of the game, but I can already smell a ton of bugs from doing something like that.
Now I could add some sort of device that can track entities if they are near you. The only downside would be that subject items would still count as an entity so if you have the blood knight for example equipped, it would keep going off. I would want to limit it so it goes off when an entity is nearby, but it won’t be specific on what it is. Mostly because it would be way to broken if it did since you can avoid danger and find subject items pretty quickly. If I do eventually add this item, it’ll be worked out enough to be somewhat balanced. Maybe have it require batteries or something. Maybe I could have it only detect enemy or hostile threats instead of items, but every entity would give off an other-worldly effect since they are gateways to anomalous abilities from other dimensions.
One thing a keyboard would be useful for would be using one inventory slot to store multiple items such as paper documents, keycards, etc. like in SCP, but the downside is that documents will automatically be uploaded to the menu where you can view them, and key cards will have a system so when you pick up a high level key card, it will drop whatever card you have so you only worry about carrying the vest card you got. So I can’t think of much use a clipboard could use, but I could think of something.
I got bored earlier and started looking up items from SCP and stuff to get some ideas and so a bullet proof vest was one of them. I figured it would be unique to actually have more than one armor choice in the game, but the downside is that it wouldn’t be realistic. Since you don’t play as a D-Class or prisoner in this game, you don’t have to worry about guns since no entity can really use them. So a vest wouldn’t be a good choice, but some sort of hazmat suit would work pretty well.
I could also make levels of armor so you can only equip one. Like the lowest being a gas mask since it protect against minor I’ll effects and gas leaks. The hazmat suit would help against both and protect your entire body against unknown substances. Then the blood knight armor could be the best armor giving you increased speed, regeneration, and the rest states, but the blood knight has an effect on your body and will start to attach itself to you as a parasite. Cause it’s a living armor, it needs nutrients somehow. Which wearing it for a few minutes won’t do anything bad at first, but I’ll have dialogue pop up when the character starts noticing I’ll effects and then you start dying. Then there is a point where you can’t take the suit off anymore because it’s permanently stuck to your body. Then it empowers your body as a vessel and it takes control. Then you die, but it’s probably a long cycle and there will be a slight cool down before you can put it back on so you can’t just take it off and re-equip it to keep resetting the timer.
So this does give me a bit more to go off of so thanks for the ideas so far.
What about the Realization powerup? You said you might classify it as a weapon instead.
Scrap off foil man, Imma make a new one, lemme use all my brain cells to think of one.
